The conference will take place in several venues in and around Malmö’s Folkets Park (i.e. People’s Park), which is loved probably by all people of Malmö. A very warm and inviting space
that brings people together, it represents the mixed-ness of the city and its dynamic cultural
and social life.

To create such a space for the whole variety of people who will come to the conference is
exactly our intention for the 6h International Degrowth Conference, which is why we have
decided to organise it in Folkets Park. We hope that this space, together with the exciting
programme of the conference, will unite degrowthers from all over the world, as well as guests
and residents of Malmö, and stimulate lots of fruitful dialogues.

For those of you coming from afar, it might be interesting to know that Folkets Park is the
oldest people’s parks in Sweden, which opened its doors to public already in 1891. Having been
owned by the Social-Democratic Party then, it became municipally owned in 1991. Apart from
being a space for recreation and social gatherings, this is also where demonstrations and strikes
used to happen.
